Our French language conversation groups are open to all AF DuPage members regardless of French fluency. All levels of French are welcome and we invite beginners & native speakers to come together for informal conversation.
Zoom sessions may be divided into small “breakout rooms” which enable more intimate conversation with some of your AF DuPage friends.
For in-person conversation groups, we are unable to reserve tables, so seating will be first come, first served. On the Ballydoyle terrace, we aren't able to push tables together, so groups will be seated at smaller tables.
We ask that our members support our host restaurants by purchasing something to eat or drink during the gathering.
Members, please watch your email for an invitation. No need to pre-register.
AF DuPage continues to follow CDC and state and local safety guidelines at its events. By attending AF DuPage in-person events, participants voluntarily agree to assume full responsibility and liability for any risks incurred and agree not to hold AF DuPage, Inc. or its Directors or Officers liable for any illness or injury.
We highly recommend vaccinations and boosters for attendees and an attendance list will be passed around at indoor events to enable contact tracing if necessary.
Wednesday, September 14, 10:00 am - Noon: *In person at Kava Diem, 1 Illinois St, Saint Charles IL (map)
Monday, September 19, 7:00 pm: *In person at Ballydoyle, 5157 Main Street Downers Grove, IL (map)
*If weather conditions allow, we look forward to meeting outside at these venues. However, if we meet indoors, participants should use their own judgement attending an in-person indoor event. An attendance sheet will be circulated in case we need to do any contact tracing after the event has taken place. In some cases, an outdoor event will be moved to Zoom with notice in advance.
An opportunity to chat, en français, with Alliance Française members across the United States.
Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm Central Time, hosted by Linda Witt, Federation of Alliances Françaises USA Board President
Similar to our own AF DuPage conversation groups, attendees will be assigned to breakout rooms of 4-5 people, with each breakout session lasting 12-14 minutes. The rooms are then re-created (for a different mix each time). In this way, participants get to meet and chat with a variety of participants from different backgrounds and fluency levels.
The group is for intermediate to advanced (or fluent) speakers who are current members of an Alliance Française chapter in the U.S.
